Testimonials

Working with Julia was an absolute dream. From brainstorming to communication, she put every effort into helping my books turn out exactly as I envisioned. She's immensely talented and one of my favorite people to work with in my publishing career so far. I don't know what I would have done without her.

Choosing collaborators is one of the most important decisions every self-publishing author has to make. Good formatting makes a book marketable but great formatting does so much more, bringing a story to life and enhancing the reading experience. Julia is a great formatter and book interior designer. She worked with me on the final two instalments of my speculative fiction trilogy, The ABC Chronicles. Her creative input was invaluable and very much appreciated.

For me, as an introvert author, her friendly demeanour, patience and kindness were welcome and could not have been surpassed. Her vision and expertise lifted my words to another level. She is a joy to work with. Put simply, she is the best. If you’re looking for a formatter, choose Julia. It could be the best decision you make.

Julia brought my Magically Cursed series to life on the page, transforming each book into a visually stunning, polished, and deeply immersive reading experience—something especially vital for an indie author. Her exceptional eye for detail, consistency, and design elevates the storytelling, giving the series a cohesive, professional, and irresistibly beautiful feel from cover to cover. Working with Julia was an absolute joy; she listens carefully, offers inspired ideas I would never have considered, and consistently delivers her very best—even when faced with an 80-chapter manuscript. Her talent, care, and commitment shone through every page, making my magical fantasy even more magical.

As a fantasy author, I always want my stories to feel alive and vibrant, and Julia captured my trilogy perfectly. She handled my books with such care, sourcing chapter headings, page breaks, and footer designs that matched the books. Deadlines were met, communication was clear and concise, and the final results for all three books were polished and professional in all different formats. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Julia to any author wanting their books to look as magical as they read.

Julia is an absolute dream formatter. She is easy to communicate with and extremely patient. Not only is she a talented designer, but she also works quickly and efficiently. I look forward to her finishing out my series for me. On a side note, I'm a disabled author. Timelines are sometimes hard to manage with illness. Julia has only treated me with respect, kindness, and flexibility; all qualities that are not easy to find yet she embodies them all!

Julia is the best there is when it comes to formatting, hands down. She took my vague idea of what I wanted and worked with me to create a clean, minimalist look for my novel. I was completely satisfied with her work, her professionalism, and the length of time it took for my book to be pub ready.

Julia is an absolute star at what she does – not only are her formatting skills exceptional but her customer service and ease of working with her are second to none. I was completely new to self-publishing but she made the whole thing a breeze. I’ve worked with Julia on my whole five-book series and she was crucial to getting that cohesive, professional look I was after. My books stand proud next to traditionally published books because of her. Definitely recommend!

Julia’s formatting skills turned my book into a work of art, quite literally. She incorporated hand-drawn illustrations and went the extra mile to ensure they fit seamlessly in the book, and to the highest quality. Julia was considerate and courteous, and made the process easy and quick with a fast turnover. I am unbelievably happy with the outcome and I will definitely be using her services again!

Working with Julia on my book was so easy. Not only was she communicative and quick to respond to my questions, but she had great ideas for the interior formatting and design of my nonfiction book. It looks fantastic in print and on my tablet. I can't wait to work with her on all of my future projects!

When I thought of formatting, I thought of gutters and spacing between sentences and things like that, but Julia does so much more. My book would have been plain and drab without the extra designing she did to the act and chapter titles. It really made the inside of my book pop! She has an excellent grasp of what is popular in books and a knack for bringing separate elements (font, backgrounds, images, chapter titles) together to present one overall theme.

Julia was such a pleasure to work with. She brought my vision to life without having to explain in great details what I was looking for. The project was completed on time and although she offers revision, everything exceeded my expectations on the first try. Thank you so much - I look forward to working with you in the future .

Working with Julia has been a dream. I was really out of my element when I approached her to help format my series--The Starless Series, but she made it easy, fun, and created a product that I had only dreamed of. The creativity and attention to detail really won me over. But it was more than that. She was already a fan of my work and took time, care, and excitement into creating the perfect images and chapter headings. I am blown away and a forever fan.

Formatting Review

Price: £75

Get expert, 1-on-1 feedback on your project. This is your opportunity to have a professional review your work, catch errors, and get actionable advice before you publish. You send me your files, and I will personally review them and create a detailed feedback report outlining any issues and clear, actionable steps for you to fix them.

This File Review is a perfect fit if you:

  • Are formatting your own book (DIY) and want a final “stamp of approval” from a professional before you go live.
  • Have already purchased The Book Formatting Formula training and want an expert’s eyes on your final product.
  • Feel like “something is off” with your file but can’t quite figure out what it is.
  • Want to ensure your file meets all technical standards for print-on-demand and e-book retailers.

Please Note: This is a review and feedback service, not a ‘Done-For-You’ service. I will be providing a report on what to fix, not performing the formatting for you.

How to Book Your File Review

  1. Send an email to tbff@withinwildhaven.com with the subject “File Review Request.”
  2. In the email, briefly describe your project (genre, word count) and attach your files (e.g., your print-ready PDF and/or your ePub file).
  3. I will reply with an invoice for the service. Once paid, I will review your files and deliver your detailed feedback report within 3-5 business days.

FAQs

To book formatting, just get in touch via email (tbff@withinwildhaven.com) with a few details about your project (word count, genre, and your ideal timeline). I’ll confirm availability, pricing, and ask to you complete a consultation form. A 50% deposit secures your booking and start date.

1. Sample chapter
I begin by creating a sample PDF with your front matter and first chapter, styled to complement your cover so everything feels cohesive.

2. Design approval
You review the layout, fonts, and overall feel. If it’s not quite right, I’ll suggest alternative options until we land on a style you’re happy with.

3. Full paperback formatting
Once the design is approved, I format the complete paperback interior using the agreed style.

4. Final review
You’ll receive the finished PDF to check for any formatting tweaks or last-minute typos. This review round is included.

5. Ebook formatting
After any final changes, I format the ebook version. Further edits beyond this stage are charged in line with the terms and conditions.

Turnaround time depends on the length and complexity of the manuscript, but most projects take a few weeks from start to finish. I’ll always confirm an estimated timeline before we begin.

If your manuscript or materials are delayed, just let me know as soon as possible. I’ll do my best to reschedule where I can, though significant delays may affect availability and timelines.

I format books using Adobe InDesign, the professional industry-standard software used by traditional publishers and commercial printers. This allows for precise typography, consistency across long manuscripts, and a high-quality reader experience.

I don’t provide the original InDesign source files. These contain licensed fonts, images, and design assets that can’t legally be transferred. You’ll receive fully print-ready and publication-ready files instead, which give you complete freedom to publish wherever you choose.

Yes. You retain full ownership of your manuscript and publishing rights at all times. My role is to professionally format and design the interior so your work is presented at its best.

Absolutely. If you have a particular look in mind, I’m happy to work from reference books or visual inspiration to create an interior that suits your genre and vision.

Minor revisions are included within the agreed scope, and I’m always happy to help with updates, reprints, or new editions in the future.

A 50% deposit is required to secure your project start date, with the remaining balance due before final files are delivered. Some clients prefer to pay in full upfront, which is absolutely fine.

My full terms and conditions can be found here.
